Bollinger -This is firm and tightly knit, with a backbone of steely acidity, showing a fine, creamy texture that imparts an overall sense of finesse to the layers of poached apple, mille-feuille, black currant, kumquat and honey, showing hints of ground spice and mineral.  $135

Krug 1990 - An aristocrat. Big-boned and intense, yet with finesse and complex flavors of coconut, whole-grain bread, ginger, citrus and honey. Waves of flavor saturate the palate and the long finish picks up a mineral and smoke note.  $425 (WS95)

Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse Chardonnay 2012– France - Finesse and distinction, with aromas of almonds, grapefruit, and lemon. The wine has a palate that is fresh and full.  $70

Zinck Portrait Gewurztraminer  – France - On the nose, a hint of exotic fruit, rose petals and spice. On the palate, intense fruit with lychee, mango, violets, and a dry finish.  $55

Two Princes Riesling  – Germany - Made entirely from the Riesling grape, this wine balances tart acidity with just a touch of sweetness and has notes of peach and nectarine.  $54

Botani Moscatel Seco – Spain - Aromatic, sweet nose of peach, overripe apricot, clove, and freshly-cut grass. Stone fruit and melon dominate the palate. Off-dry and good acidity.  $50

Beringer Napa Chardonnay  – USA - Bright yellow. Pure aromas of nectarine, grapefruit and pineapple. Boasts good thickness and richness.  Lively stone fruit flavors.  $59

Hanzell ‘Sonoma’ Chardonnay 2005 – USA – Tight, strong with oak firming up the plump and gentle curves of peach-like fruit. Chamomile flower scent with a clean finish.  $112


Penfolds Grange 2004 – Australia - Smooth and seductive, this delivers a full-throated chorus of currant, plum, blackberry and spice flavors, hinting at coffee and cardamom as the finish float and sails easily over a bed of polished, refined tannins.  (WS99)  $695

Yalumba Signature Cabernet 2008 – Australia - Smooth, round and especially graceful, with the ripe blackberry, tar and liquorice flavours settling gently into a supple frame.  $85

Burrowing Owl Cabernet 2010 – Canada - Deep, dark and classic Cabernet Sauvignon character through the intense cassis to the structured palate. Youthful, but still approachable thanks to the ripe tannins, concentrated with plum, raspberries, oak and spice. $91

Osoyoos Larose Le Gran Vin 2008 – Canada - 70% Merlot,  21% Cabernet Sauvignon,  4% Cabernet Franc,  3% Petit Verdot,  2% Malbec.  A joint venture with Gruaud Larose from Bordeaux, year after year this wine delivers. Signature notes of tasty mocha, dark plums and berries.  $93

Concha Y Toro Terruyno Carmenere 2009 – Chile - From the producers of the famous Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon, comes this exquisite wine.  Deep red in colour. Cassis and plums framed by fine tannins lend a creamy edge to the dark fruit notes.  $70

Errazuriz Don Maximano 2009 – Chile - Blend of (84%) Cabernet Sauvignon, (8%) Carmenère, (5%) Syrah and (3%) Big, deep dark chocolates entice the nose, followed by notes of blackberry jam. A firm and well structured palate features robust yet sweet tannins and a broad range of red fruits carried by the richness of its oak, long and smooth with lots of character.  $106

Château Boyd Cantenac 2005 – France Big and deep on the nose with classic cassis deep earthy tones and integrated spice from the wood-ageing. Good acidity and tannins that are solid, yet seductively create a long and memorable finish.  (WS92)  $160

Château Beaucastel Châteauneuf du Pape 2007 – France Dark and fresh with some sweet spice; ripe and generous with an underlying power. Pepper with a cool streak through the middle and a juicy freshness within that and just a hint of tar and vanilla.  (96WS) $149

Cornas ‘Les Barcillants’ Syrah  2009 – FranceA great combination of modern-style Black Mission fig, plum sauce and steeped blackberry fruit with charcoal, Maduro tobacco and bay leaf notes, all backed by a briar and sweet tapenade-filled finish. (93WS)  $110

Jean-Michel Guillon Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru La Perriere 2006 – France Wonderfully open nose with feminine flowers and light red fruit. Palate is smooth and silky, medium body for Burgundy, slight touches of acid and heat on the finish, lovely and graceful.  (WS91)  $145

Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 2007 – Italy Smooth and round, this red offers cherry, bitter almond, spice and wood notes.  The tannins are dense, but are balanced overall.  $110

Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello 2006 – Italy A deep and intense ruby red wine. A great nose with ripe fruits prominent, solid structure, complex flavours of sweet cassis and hints of coffee, followed with a silky smooth finish. Concentrated yet classically balanced, beautiful and complete.  $132

Marchesi Di Barolo Cannubi 2006 – Italy Garnet red in colour, intense perfume with clean scents of roses, vanilla, spice and light oak. The flavour is full and soft with good balance and body. The spicy notes and hints of wood blend perfectly on the finish.  (WS95)  $176                                                          

Antinori Solaia 2004 – Italy - 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc.                                                                                                                                             Endowed with massive amounts of concentration as well as structure, it is a big powerful Supertuscan that does not sacrifice elegance or balance in its full-bodied personality.  Packed with essence of blackberries, chocolate and cassis; this layered beauty exhibits great length and a persistent, soft tangy finish.  (WS96)  $265

Tommasi Amarone 2010 – Italy Layers of cocoa, dried cherry, spiced plum, mocha, cinnamon and fig on the nose lead to equal enticement on the palate, where lifted sour cherry notes and savory spices inform the finish.  $88

Diemersfontein Pinotage 2010 – South AfricaLots of roasted coffee bean aromas with bacon and chocolate. Some spice notes with a slight green, bitter finish.  $96

Emilio Moro ‘Valdarremiro’ 2007 – Spain Sourced from a single 88 year old vineyard bearing the same name.  Opaque purple in colour, its legs ooze down the side of the glass. A drop dead seductive bouquet exudes embracing touches of sweet mature ripened fruit, spices and tobacco leading into finely toasted creamy tannins, with extremely rich fruit structure and decadent character.  (WS94)  $296

Numanthia Termes 2006 – Spain Dark as midnight, intense and complex, lots of aromatic layers on this lively nose. Red and black fruits perfectly integrated with cinnamon and nutmeg. Velvety tannins leading to full rounded mouth-feel with tons of fruit, long and elegant on the finish.  (WS96)  $180

Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 – USA Dense purple, its colour is as rich as its flavour. The wonderful nose is an added treat with notes of espresso roast and sweet black cherries. Showing balance, structure, power and finesse, with a long fruit filled finish.  (WS96) $196

Darioush Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 – USARipe, rich dark fruit nose. Vivid fruit flavours, liquorice, black cherry and mocha are wrapped in a sleek, savoury package of sage and lavender. Succulent, fully-developed tannins support a quality long finish.  (WS93)  $190

Duckhorn Merlot 2007 – USA notes of Asian spice, red currant, plum and blueberry crisp are supported by a subtle streak of earthiness. The palate is both velvety and balanced, with flavors that echo the aromas.  (WS92)  $92

Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 – USAThis wine showcases the delicacy and approachable style of the vintage.  Elegant aromas of cherries and plums open to a soft, silky mouth-feel boasting a spectrum of red and black fruit flavours. Spicy oak may be drawn from the American oak, while the French oak builds seductively soft tannins. (WS91)  $140

Rodney Strong Reserve Pinot Noir 2008 – USA This pinot is soft, lush and vast in fruit and oak richness. Palate has flavours of cherry and raspberry pie filling, vanilla, cinnamon and sandalwood, and the texture is silky and elegant.  (WS91)  $106
